Hi, I'm Julia 💜
For a long time, food and I weren't friends.
After being diagnosed with chronic pancreatitis, everything changed. Eating became something I had to think about, be careful with… and at times, even fear. In October 2022, I went through a Whipple operation, and my recovery was very, very tough. It left me with a completely new life to figure out. I've had some very low times along the way, but I'm still here—thankfully.
I now live with an internal morphine pain pump, and I'm still trying to find the right level for me—especially when it comes to the Whipple-related attacks I deal with, and the pain that can still come with eating.
And the truth is, I'm still struggling with food. I'm very much on the harder end of the scale when it comes to eating, and right now I only have around 12–15 foods that feel safe for me.
I also walk with a stick for balance—but my personality insists on decorating it and blinging it up. You can take the girl out of Essex, but never the Essex out of the girl! ✨
What used to feel normal suddenly became complicated, frustrating, and honestly, quite lonely.
But over time, something shifted.
I started finding my way back—slowly, gently, and in my own way. Learning what works for my body, what doesn't, and how to enjoy food again without overthinking every bite.
That's where Friends With Food Again was born.
This isn't about perfect recipes or picture-perfect meals. This is real life. Real cooking. Real moments. I'll be sharing everything—the wins, the mistakes, the days it goes right, and the days it doesn't. Because that's what getting your confidence back with food actually looks like.
If you've ever struggled with food, your health, or just lost that connection with enjoying what you eat… you're not alone.
This is me, fighting my way back—and maybe helping you do the same 💜
